Week in a nutshell

Another busy week in the Dhabs...
John Sexton was in town and hosted an alumni dinner on campus. The way he talked about "gathering the family" was amusing. I now suspect "global network university" is just a euphemism for NYU mafia. The next day, we had our last government and religion class with him. It is fairly epic that I've taken a class with my university's president, but we never got around to discussing the legitimacy of the US Supreme Court. Which I thought was one of the main points of the class...
Went to a basketball game on the Sorbonne's Reem Island campus. As cool as the NYUAD facilities on Saadiyat are rumored to be, I'd rather be downtown for now. The outskirts of Abu Dhabi are still pretty otherworldly/desolate. It all looks pretty much like this --------------------------->

Most of my week has been consumed with summer internship searching, essay writing and Arabic vocab studying, project planning, and other routine things. Tom and I had this brilliant plan that we'd be more productive and manage our time better so we'd be able to actually go to the beach, explore the Emirates, and basically take a chill pill. Worked out well in the beginning, but it's tapered off now. :(
